Greece Defense Agreement and Statement Regarding Turkey

Greek Health Minister and New Democracy Party Vice President Adonis Georgiadis announced in a speech in parliament that he supports the approximately 3 billion euro Achilles Shield defense agreement signed in Tel Aviv.

Achilles Shield Defense Agreement

The project, which holds the distinction of being the largest defense agreement ever carried out between Greece and Israel, was signed in Tel Aviv.

This strategic partnership called the Achilles Shield takes defense cooperation between the two countries to the highest level.

Turkey and Security Statements

Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis stated that this strategic alliance guarantees the country's freedom against threats that may come from Turkey or elsewhere.

In his speech in parliament, he emphasized that this military cooperation is essential in line with national interests.

Military Systems and Infrastructure

It was stated that within the scope of the agreement, Israel will provide Greece with a multi-layered air and ballistic missile defense system and infrastructure against unmanned aerial vehicles.

These systems include advanced defense technologies such as Spyder, David's Sling, and Barak MX.

Industrial Participation and Schedule

The Greek defense industry is planned to provide 25 percent participation in this project.

The established defense infrastructure is expected to reach full capacity in approximately 35 months.

Georgiadis had a heated argument with a member of parliament from the Communist Party of Greece during the discussions in parliament.

In his dialogue with the deputy, he defended that they prioritize the interests of the Greek people.
