Public Prosecutor Uçuk, who gave a statement following the leakage of a video showing an argument with his ex-wife, has been slapped with a travel ban.
Giving a statement as a suspect within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Tekirdağ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Public Prosecutor Türkşad Kunthan Uçuk defended himself by stating that the video filmed during an argument with his ex-wife was leaked to the press without his knowledge and denied the accusations; meanwhile, the judgeship applied the judicial control measure of a foreign travel ban.
Investigation and Statement Process
Giving a statement as a suspect within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Tekirdağ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Public Prosecutor Türkşad Kunthan Uçuk stated that he was reassigned from the Pınarhisar Public Prosecutor's Office to the Bozova Public Prosecutor's Office by the decree dated September 7, 2026.
Purpose of Filming the Video
Uçuk stated that he filmed the video, which led to the investigation against him, in a moment of sudden anger during an argument with his ex-wife Kübra Tanış via WhatsApp and sent it only to her. He defended that the video was not published in any publicly accessible medium.
Allegation of Leakage to the Press
Claiming that the video was served to members of the press without his knowledge, Uçuk asserted that this situation aimed to discredit him prior to ongoing lawsuits. His defense counsel also stated that the messaging records showed the legal elements of the crime had not been met.
Judgeship Decision and Judicial Control
Referred to the Tekirdağ 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace after proceedings at the prosecutor's office, Uçuk was subjected to the judicial control measure of a travel ban on the grounds of strong suspicion of crime and the fact that evidence had not yet been fully collected.
