Sidebar and Interactive Panels
The new plugin extensions grant apps a dedicated space in the ChatGPT sidebar. Developers can build interactive panels that allow users to work with their tools while chatting.
File Viewers and Product Support
The new system allows developers to include file viewers supporting all file formats used by their products. This enables users to interact more comfortably with documents in different formats.
Developer Tools and Plugin Directory
To make plugin creation easier for developers, OpenAI launched the new Plugin Creator tool. The redesigned flow improves the directory submission process by providing clearer feedback.
Ranking and Access Security
The company improved the ranking and recommendation mechanisms for plugins within the directory. Users can individually approve the access requirements of a plugin they wish to work with.
ChatGPT Sites Integration
ChatGPT Sites, which are lightweight websites users can create with ChatGPT, can host these new plugins. This allows individuals to share their applications with colleagues using their own linked data and permissions.
