Pegas Targets 7 Million Tourists for Turkey in 2026
Pegas CIS Countries Coordinator Orhan Sancar stated that they are maintaining their ambitious goals for Turkish tourism despite transportation challenges caused by geopolitical tensions in the region.
Speaking at the Tourism Fair held in Istanbul, Pegas CIS Countries Coordinator Orhan Sancar announced that they aim to bring 7 million tourists to Turkey by the end of 2026, despite current developments in the Russian and Belarusian markets.
Strategic Goals in the CIS Market
During the CIS Market Session within the scope of the Tourism Fair held in Istanbul, tourism activity centered on Russia and Belarus and Turkey's position in this market were evaluated in detail.
Pegas CIS Countries Coordinator Orhan Sancar shared the efforts they are carrying out to keep travel demand for Turkey alive for the remainder of the year.
Geopolitical Challenges and Transportation Barriers
Sancar stated that they initially projected a 5 percent growth for 2026, but the Russia-Ukraine war and developments in the Middle East have put pressure on the sector.
Pointing out that disruptions in air transportation caused by conflicts in the region make tourist flow difficult, Sancar emphasized that despite these obstacles, Turkey is a destination resilient to crises.
Expectations for the October and November Period
The Pegas management plans to reach the 7 million tourist target with intensive efforts to be carried out in the last quarter of the year.
With strategic planning covering the months of October and November, it is aimed to reach the targeted number of tourists by minimizing the effects of current transportation restrictions.
