US President Donald Trump denied claims that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent would be appointed to the role designed to oversee artificial intelligence. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump announced that Bessent would continue in his position as Treasury Secretary.

Super Intelligence and AI Force Plan

Trump stated that he suggested using the term 'super intelligence' or 'SI' instead of artificial intelligence, and that this move would help lead a planned new 'AI Force' formation. Trump likened this structure to the Space Force he established during his first term, but did not provide details on how the institution would operate.

Meanwhile, after investor David Sacks, who previously served as the AI and crypto czar, left the White House earlier this year, it remains unclear which names are currently being considered for the new position.

Bessent's Work on Artificial Intelligence

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had this year highlighted the importance of oversight mechanisms against cybersecurity risks while defending US competitiveness. Bessent emphasized that the administration's industry-friendly approach did not conflict with security goals following Anthropic's release of its Mythos model.

Bessent had also played an active role in artificial intelligence discussions and diplomatic contacts between the US and China.
