Public opinion research on Terror-Free Turkey and the Mecca Agreement concluded
According to the GENAR poll, support for the Terror-Free Turkey process stands at 61.6%, while the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement received a positive response from society.
Recent public opinion polls revealed that the Terror-Free Turkey process and the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement have widespread support across society.
Support for the Terror-Free Turkey Process
According to GENAR data, the proportion of those supporting the ongoing process was measured at 61.6%. The proportion of those who do not support this process was determined to be 38.4%.
Regarding the outcomes of the process, 28.7% of participants stated that it would not create a significant change, while a 6.5% segment expressed that it would permanently solve the problem.
Distribution by Political Parties
The highest support for the process came from DEM Party voters at 90.5%. This rate was followed by AK Party voters at 86.5% and MHP voters at 80.7%.
Support among New Party voters remained at 40.9%, while this rate hovered around 15% among İYİ Party voters.
Preference for Independent Power in Foreign Policy
The main axis preference of the Turkish public in foreign policy continued unchanged. Nearly half of the participants argued that Turkey should become an independent central power.
49% of the participants expressed the view that Turkey should be an independent central power in its own region without being dependent on any bloc.
Mecca Joint Defense Agreement
The Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan on August 7, 2026, was met with approval by the public.
26.6% of those aware of the agreement evaluated this step as an important move increasing regional power, and positive perception became the dominant group.
Perception of Success in the Defense Industry
When the AK Party's term in power is evaluated in terms of foreign policy and strategic steps, the defense industry stood out.
The Defense Industry and Military Capacity area ranked first by a wide margin with 31.9% as the most successful area.
