13 suspects captured in operation against fake health product smuggling
In simultaneous operations centered in Istanbul and including Ankara, 13 suspects who exported fake health products abroad and made unregistered money transfers were detained.
In operations carried out in Istanbul, Ankara and other provinces, 13 suspects who sent fake health products abroad and carried out unregistered money transfers were captured. A large number of fake products were seized in simultaneous raids.
Start of Investigation and MASAK Review
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Anti-Smuggling Branch initiated an operation under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The teams evaluated the tip-off that fake health product shipments were sent abroad through illegal means and that product payments were smuggled into Turkey unregistered.
Within the scope of the ongoing investigation, financial analysis reports prepared by MASAK were taken into consideration. In line with the reports, money transfers inconsistent with the financial profiles of the suspects were placed under detailed scrutiny.
Simultaneous Operation and Detentions
As a result of the meticulous work carried out by police teams, the addresses of the suspects were identified. Simultaneous operations were organized on September 9 at previously determined locations in Istanbul and Ankara.
As a result of these operations, a total of 13 suspects were captured and detained. It was reported that the interrogation and legal proceedings of the suspects at the police station are ongoing.
Seized Products and Address Searches
A large number of smuggled and fake products were secured during searches carried out at the homes and workplaces of the suspects. During the searches, 9,548 boxes of food supplements were seized.
Additionally, 75 boxes of medicines and 69 boxes of health bands were found and confiscated during the operation. Law enforcement units are continuing their multifaceted investigation regarding the incident.
