Figures Reached in Cancer Screenings in Turkey Announced
Within the scope of the efforts carried out by the Ministry of Health, millions of citizens underwent cancer screenings, and thousands were diagnosed at an early stage.
The Ministry of Health reported that 16.1 million people across Turkey have undergone cancer screenings, and as a result of the examinations, 36,000 people have been diagnosed with cancer.
Cancer Screenings and Diagnosis Process
According to the data shared by the Ministry of Health, cancer screenings have been performed on 16.1 million people across Turkey to date. Citizens whose test results were found to be risky were referred to higher-level healthcare institutions for further tests, and following these processes, 36,000 people were diagnosed with cancer.
Public Health Week and Its Theme
The theme for the seventh day of Public Health Week was determined as "Early Diagnosis in Cancer Saves Lives." Within this scope, education and consultancy services aimed at raising cancer awareness in society continue to be provided nationwide.
Activities of Mobile Screening Vehicles
Within the framework of the ongoing efforts, more than 515,000 screening services were provided to citizens via mobile cancer screening vehicles. These vehicles play a significant role in increasing screening rates by facilitating access to healthcare services.
CCSM and Healthy Life Centers
There are a total of 486 CCSMs in Turkey, consisting of 428 Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Center (CCSM) units operating within Healthy Life Centers and 58 mobile CCSM screening vehicles. Early diagnosis programs are implemented at CCSMs while citizens are informed about ways to protect themselves from cancer.
Free Screening Programs and Call
Free screening programs are conducted in Turkey for breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and cervical cancer. Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu invited all citizens to benefit from these services by visiting CCSMs in a post shared on his social media account.
