8th Regional Provinces ASKOM Meeting Held in Kahramanmaraş
Health investments and transfer processes were discussed at the Emergency Health Services Coordination Commission meeting held with the participation of regional provinces.
The 20th Emergency Health Services Coordination Commission Meeting of the 8th Regional Provinces, organized to strengthen regional cooperation in emergency health services, was held in Kahramanmaraş.
Purpose of the Meeting and Participants
The 20th Emergency Health Services Coordination Commission Meeting of the 8th Regional Provinces was held in Kahramanmaraş in order to strengthen regional coordination in emergency health services, evaluate patient transfer processes, and develop inter-provincial cooperation. Led by Gaziantep, the regional coordinator province, the meeting was attended by the provincial health directors and health administrators of Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, and Kilis.
Evaluations by the Gaziantep Provincial Health Director
Led by Gaziantep Provincial Health Director Dr. Beytullah Şahin, the meeting comprehensively discussed the operations of 112 Emergency Health Services stations, inter-hospital patient transfers, the capacities and facilities of health care establishments, and inter-provincial coordination processes. It was emphasized that investments in Gaziantep's health infrastructure make significant contributions to the region.
Decrease Experienced in Patient Transfers
Gaziantep Provincial Health Director Dr. Beytullah Şahin pointed out that thanks to the strengthened health infrastructure in recent years, patient transfers from neighboring provinces to outside the region have decreased by half compared to last year. Şahin stated that this situation has increased the effectiveness of health services provided across the region.
353 Thousand Patient Transfers Carried Out
It was announced that a total of 353 thousand case transfers were carried out across the region in the first 8 months of 2026. It was stated that approximately 40 percent of these transfers took place in Gaziantep and 56 percent of patient transfers in the region were made to hospitals in Gaziantep. The meeting concluded with the evaluation of common problems and the discussion of proposed solutions.
