Active Life Center Becomes a Health Hub for Citizens Over 65
Comprehensive health screenings and expert briefings were provided to elderly citizens at the Active Life Center in Kahramanmaraş on the occasion of Public Health Week.
Within the scope of Public Health Week, comprehensive health checks, screenings, and expert briefings were conducted for citizens aged 65 and over at the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality Active Life Center.
Interinstitutional Cooperation
Various events are being organized within the framework of September 3-9 Public Health Week in partnership with the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, and the Provincial Health Directorate.
In this context, the Active Life Center, established with an understanding of social municipalism, became an important meeting point by hosting health screenings carried out for elderly individuals.
Comprehensive Health Screenings
Within the framework of the activities held at the center, citizens' blood pressure, blood sugar, height-weight, and body mass index measurements were meticulously performed.
General health statuses of the elderly individuals were evaluated through carbon monoxide and blood measurements conducted by expert teams.
Support from Expert Teams
Physiotherapists, psychologists, and dentists offered various services tailored to the individual needs of elderly citizens.
While physiotherapists shared exercise recommendations to support mobility, psychologists provided briefings on protecting mental health.
Oral and Dental Health Education
Oral and dental health checks were performed for elderly citizens by dentists, and correct care methods were explained.
In addition, comprehensive information was conveyed to participants regarding dental prostheses, braces, and other applied dental treatments.
Healthy Nutrition Awareness
Through dietitians, the importance of adequate and balanced nutrition was explained to elderly citizens, and healthy eating habits were imparted.
It was stated that the goal is to make healthy eating a lifestyle and to sustain adequate water consumption in daily life.
Gratitude from Citizens
The free general health checks and screenings offered on the occasion of Public Health Week were met with great satisfaction by the elderly citizens.
Citizens expressed that the services provided were a great convenience for them and conveyed their thanks to the municipality.

Provincial Health Directorate Educator Mehmet Akif Terli stated that the Active Life Center is a great opportunity for elderly individuals and that the work will continue in the field.
Physician Özge Sever and other experts also emphasized that they came together with the elderly at the center to carry out the necessary screenings and briefings.
