Advanced Health Tracking with Huawei Watch 5 and X-Tap Sensor
A guide by Dr. Ben Buckley details methods for accessing health data on Huawei smartwatches using the new X-TAP haptic sensor system.
Cardiovascular physiology expert Dr. Ben Buckley has authored a guide detailing the functions in health tracking of the innovative X-TAP haptic sensor system featured in the Huawei Watch 5 and Watch Ultimate 2 models.
What is the X-TAP Sensor System
X-TAP is Huawei's new haptic sensor interaction system and is currently found exclusively in the HUAWEI WATCH 5 and WATCH Ultimate 2 models. Integrated directly into the watch chassis, this special sensor works in harmony with ECG and PPG modules.
Quick Access with an Invisible Button
The sensor detects very subtle interactions such as finger touches and pressure movements, providing your watch with an invisible button. A quick touch on the side allows you to directly access health data without needing to navigate through menus.
Health Glance Feature
Health Glance is preset as a shortcut on the HUAWEI WATCH 5 model via the X-TAP sensor. To launch this feature, you need to press and hold the sensor on the side of the watch for three seconds.
Working Principle of ECG and PPG Modules
While the ECG records the electrical signals of the heart, the PPG located on the back uses light to continuously track heart rate, sleep, and stress. The HUAWEI WATCH 5 also offers real-time ECG checks and continuous SpO2 measurements.
