Antalya Organ and Tissue Transplantation Center Visited Konya City Hospital
During the meeting held at Konya City Hospital, organ and tissue donation processes and efforts to increase cadaveric donor numbers were discussed.
Officials from the Antalya Organ and Tissue Transplantation Regional Coordination Center visited Konya City Hospital Chief Physician Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cüneyt Çiçek in his office to discuss the current status of organ and tissue donation and ongoing work in this field.
Purpose and Details of the Visit
Dr. Nejat Huni, the Responsible Physician of the Antalya Organ and Tissue Transplantation Regional Coordination Center, and the accompanying delegation visited Konya City Hospital Chief Physician Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cüneyt Çiçek.
Organ Donation Status and Processes
During the visit, the current status of organ and tissue donation in Turkey and Konya, as well as brain death determination processes, were discussed in detail.
Increasing Cadaveric Donations
In the meeting, it was evaluated that Konya City Hospital has reached a successful point in brain death determination in 2026, and it was emphasized that family consent rates need to be increased.
Social Awareness Activities
To increase cadaveric organ donation, the importance of properly informing the public and expanding awareness-raising activities directed at the community was stated.
Interinstitutional Cooperation
Chief Physician Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cüneyt Çiçek stated that organ donation offers patients renewed hope for life and drew attention to interinstitutional cooperation in this field.
