Call for Health Checks and Preventive Services from Denizli Provincial Health Director Öztürk
Making a statement on the occasion of Public Health Week in Denizli, Provincial Health Director Dr. Berna Öztürk called on citizens to comply with preventive health measures and have regular check-ups before getting sick.
Denizli Provincial Health Director Dr. Berna Öztürk, in her statement for the September 3-9 Public Health Week, emphasized that preventive health services play a critical role in protecting and improving community health, telling citizens not to wait until they fall ill.
The Importance of Preventive Health Services
Denizli Provincial Health Director Dr. Berna Öztürk made statements aimed at protecting community health and raising awareness on the occasion of the September 3-9 Public Health Week. She stated that one should not wait for illness to occur in order to protect health.
Drawing attention to the importance of primary healthcare as the foundation of health services, Öztürk conveyed that preventive services have a vital role in strengthening community health.
Regular Check-ups and Lifestyle Habits
Expressing that having regular health check-ups is of great importance in protecting public health, Öztürk pointed out the need for a balanced diet and increased physical activity.
Additionally, a call was made to stay away from tobacco products, reduce the consumption of excessive salt and sugar, and pay attention to personal and environmental hygiene.
The Role of Family Health Centers
Stating that primary healthcare services are carried out through Family Health Centers across Denizli, Öztürk stated that there are 383 units in 137 centers throughout the province.
It was reported that with the inclusion of 10 new units into the service network in 2026, the population per family medicine unit was reduced to the level of 2,730.
Cancer Screening and Early Diagnosis Activities
Touching upon the importance of early diagnosis in the fight against cancer, Dr. Berna Öztürk conveyed that the Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Centers (KETEM) in Merkezefendi, Pamukkale, Sümer, Acıpayam, and Tavas, as well as the Mobile Cancer Screening Van, continue their activities.
It was noted that screening activities are delivered to the most remote corners of the province, providing services to citizens through KETEM and mobile vehicles.
Healthy Life Centers
It was stated that free consultancy services are offered to citizens through the Acıpayam, Tavas, Merkezefendi, and Pamukkale Healthy Life Centers.
It was indicated that these centers provide services in areas such as nutrition, physical activity, psychosocial support, women's and reproductive health, and smoking cessation.
