Cevdet Yılmaz Emphasizes Health Industry and Defense Industry
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the success achieved in the defense industry will be carried over to the health industry and pharmaceutical sector.
During his remarks at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Fırat University New Hospital Building, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz emphasized that they are determined to achieve a transformation in health industries, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices similar to the one in the defense industry.
Infrastructure Investments in Health
Stating that Turkey ranks among the strongest countries in the world in health services, officials noted that 1,521 hospitals are actively serving across the country.
It was shared with the public that the number of qualified beds has reached 184,000, and the number of intensive care beds has reached 48,000.
Status of City Hospital Projects
It was reported that 27 of the city hospitals, prioritized by the President, have been completed and opened for service, while construction works for 13 hospitals are ongoing.
It was stated that with the completion of the ongoing projects, the total number of city hospitals will reach 40.
Transformation Target in the Health Industry
It was conveyed that through the strategic use of public purchasing power, the success achieved in the defense industry will be carried over to the health industry.
It was stated that significant steps will be taken to reduce foreign dependency and provide value-added benefits to the country in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
Fırat University New Hospital Project
The new Fırat University Hospital with a capacity of 800 beds, whose foundation was laid, is planned to be completed and put into service within a period of about 3 years.
It was reported that the new hospital building will house 155 intensive care beds, modern single-person general patient rooms, and well-equipped units.
Importance of R&D and University Research
Speaking at the opening of the Prof. Dr. Yasemin Açık R&D Center, officials stated that university research is of critical importance to be able to compete internationally.
It was noted that the share of R&D expenditures in the gross domestic product has risen to 1.46 percent, and the number of technology zones and private sector centers is rapidly increasing.
