Condition of students injured in high school attack in Turgutlu and source of the weapon

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced that out of the eight students injured in the attack on the high school in Turgutlu, three are in intensive care and undergoing surgery, while one student has been discharged.

Health status of injured students

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated that the treatment of three of the eight students injured in the attack continues in intensive care and they are currently in surgery.

Noting that the health conditions of the other students are progressing well, Çiftçi announced that one student has been discharged after the completion of their treatment.

Source of the weapon used in the attack

Touching upon the point where the weapon used in the attack was obtained, Minister Çiftçi explained that the licensed pistol was registered in the name of the student's grandmother.

Stating that the child carried out the act by taking the weapon from his grandfather's house, Çiftçi emphasized that families need to be more careful regarding gun safety.

Security measures and inspections

It was stated that inspections around schools continue through security, public order, narcotics, and juvenile branches as part of the ministry.

It was noted that internet cafes, kiosks, amusement arcades, and abandoned buildings around schools are regularly inspected.

Psychosocial support efforts

Information was shared that twenty psychosocial support personnel have been assigned to the region following the incident.

It was stated that the number of this team will be increased to twenty-seven in the future and that relevant ministries are making joint plans for school safety.
