Directive on Annual Health Checks for Students in Educational Institutions
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has announced the details of health screenings to be conducted once a year at the beginning of the school year under a new decree.
In accordance with a new regulation issued in Vietnam, conducting annual health checks for students once a year at the beginning of the school year has been made mandatory and the details have been determined.
Frequency and Location of Health Checks
Health checks for children in preschool educational institutions and students in general educational institutions will be organized once a year at the beginning of the school year.
These checks will be carried out directly at the educational institution, the commune-level health station, the relevant medical examination and treatment facility, or other suitable locations.
Main Objectives of Screening Activities
The primary purpose of these health checks is to accurately assess the initial health status of the students.
Additionally, it aims to detect common diseases among school-aged children at an early stage and refer them to specialized medical institutions when necessary.
Scope of Examination and Different Educational Levels
For preschool children, detailed clinical examinations such as the assessment of vital signs, nutrition, psychomotor development, and immunization evaluation will be conducted.
While physical fitness will be examined for general education students, the provisions of relevant laws will apply to higher education and vocational training students.
Data Management and Funding Sources
Educational institutions are obligated to regularly update the health check data they obtain on the Ministry of Health's Health Data Portal.
The financing required for this process will be met through annual budget allocations, health insurance funds, and other legal sources of revenue.
