Emphasis on Preventive Health from Denizli During Public Health Week
Denizli Provincial Health Director Spec. Dr. Berna Öztürk drew attention to the importance of primary healthcare services and preventive measures in her statement marking Public Health Week.
Denizli Provincial Health Director Spec. Dr. Berna Öztürk stated that preventive healthcare services play a critical role in preventing health issues within the scope of September 3-9 Public Health Week, calling on citizens for regular check-ups.
Preventive Health Measures
Spec. Dr. Berna Öztürk stated that primary healthcare services are the initial point of contact for individuals with the health system. The importance of regular health check-ups, a balanced diet, physical activity, avoiding tobacco products, reducing salt and sugar consumption, and personal hygiene was emphasized.
Vaccination and Cancer Screenings
It was noted that compliance with the Ministry of Health's vaccination program and conducting cancer screenings in a timely manner are of vital importance. It was recorded that screening activities are being carried out effectively throughout the province.
Service Network in Denizli
In order to strengthen primary care services across Denizli, 137 Family Health Centers and 383 Family Medicine Units are serving. With the addition of 10 new units in 2026, the population per physician dropped to 2,730.
Centers and Mobile Vans
There are also 7 District Health Directorates and 12 Community Health Centers in the city. To expand cancer screenings, Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Centers (KETEM) and the Mobile Cancer Screening Van reach out to the most remote points.
Healthy Life Centers
Free services such as nutrition counseling, psychosocial support, smoking cessation counseling, and chronic disease tracking are provided at the Acıpayam, Tavas, Merkezefendi, and Pamukkale Healthy Life Centers.
Call to Citizens
Wishing that Public Health Week strengthens health awareness in society, Öztürk invited citizens to effectively utilize primary healthcare services and called on them not to wait until they get sick.
