Farmer Ismail, Who Underwent Cataract Surgery in Ethiopia, Regains Sight
Ismail, a 47-year-old father of seven who had been blind for three years during a health campaign in Ethiopia, regained his health through cataract surgery.
As part of the health activities carried out by the Hayrat Humanitarian Aid Association in the city of Asosa, Ethiopia, a father of seven and farmer named Ismail, who had been experiencing vision loss for about three years, underwent a successful cataract surgery.
Details of the Health Campaign
A comprehensive four-day health campaign was carried out in the Asosa region of Ethiopia by the Turkey-based Hayrat Humanitarian Aid Association.
Within the framework of these operations, surgeries were successfully performed on 215 needy patients suffering from cataracts in the region.
Ismail's Journey
Ismail, a father of seven and farmer who suffered from advanced cataracts in both eyes, had been struggling with vision loss for a long time.
Having previously applied to many different health centers to undergo surgery without success, Ismail reached out to the association's medical team thanks to announcements made.
Reuniting with Light Again
Stating that his greatest desire before the surgery was to be able to see the way to his own home and fields again, Ismail experienced great happiness after the operation.
With the removal of the bandages from his eyes, Ismail reunited with light once again and deeply felt the joy of seeing those around him after years.
Health Situation in the Region
Burhan Bekir Büyükduzcu, serving in the association, drew attention to the fact that access to health services is quite limited in the Asosa region.
Büyükduzcu stated that there are numerous cataract patients waiting for treatment in this geography and that the carried-out efforts are of vital importance.
