Fourth Wave Operation in Fund Investigation
Numerous suspects were detained in the fourth wave of operations targeting company boards of directors as part of the fund investigation affecting financial markets.
Under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, legal proceedings were initiated against 10 suspects from the boards of directors of Destek Factoring and Özata Denizcilik in the fund investigation, resulting in 8 detentions.
Details of the Operation
The fourth wave of operations concerning the fund investigation affecting financial markets was carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Legal proceedings were initiated against a total of 10 suspects serving on the board of directors of Destek Faktoring A.Ş. and Özata Denizcilik.
Detentions and Fugitive Status
During simultaneous raids, 8 suspects were detained, while efforts continue to capture 2 suspects who could not be found at their addresses. As part of the searches, it was understood that İskender Balcı had gone to Montenegro two days prior.
Status of Company Owners
Altunç Kumova, the owner of Destek Holding, was detained on September 17 and arrested by the criminal judgeship of peace before which he was brought. Kumova had stated that he noticed unusual activity regarding the funds.
SPK Decisions and Liquidation
The Capital Markets Board (SPK) made a new decision regarding the liquidated funds, announcing that payments would be made from the liquidation balance to the holders of canceled purchase and sale orders. It was stated that the payments would be made over the actual balance that will emerge at the end of the fund's liquidation.
