Free health screenings and medicine distribution held for elderly in Thu Vu commune

On the occasion of Vietnam's Action Month for the Elderly and the October 1 International Day of Older Persons, a comprehensive health screening, free medicine distribution, and gift program was organized for elderly citizens in Thu Vu commune.

Health Screening and Scope

In coordination with the Provincial Hospital of Geriatrics and Traditional Medicine, Thu Vu commune, and related units, a comprehensive health check-up activity was implemented for the elderly in the commune.

As part of the organized program, various health screenings, notably ear, nose, and throat examinations, were conducted for elderly citizens by specialist doctors.

Detection of Chronic Diseases

This screening activity aimed to early detect conditions commonly seen in old age, such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, respiratory diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Recommendations and Referral Procedures

Detailed recommendations were provided to the elderly regarding disease prevention using traditional medicine methods, proper nutrition, exercise programs, and skills to prevent the risk of falls.

In cases where serious illnesses were detected, doctors recommended that patients be promptly referred to higher-level medical facilities for specialized treatment.

Medicine, Gift Distribution and Program Schedule

Staff from the Provincial Hospital of Geriatrics and Traditional Medicine distributed free medicines and various gifts to the elderly citizens who came for health check-ups.

Planned in two phases, the first phase of the program took place on September 26-27, while the second phase will be held between October 3-4.

It is planned to provide health check-ups, medicines, and gifts to a total of 2,400 elderly people within the commune boundaries.
