Free Periodic Health Checkups and Data Integration
The Ministry of Health announced the expansion of free periodic health checkups for citizens and the reduction of unnecessary tests by utilizing existing medical data.
Evaluating the implementation of free periodic health checkups for all citizens, Dr. Vuong Anh Duong, Deputy Director of the Medical Examination and Treatment Management Department under the Ministry of Health, stated that initial reports from 34 provinces and cities show local authorities are executing this process effectively.
Nationwide Health Screenings
To date, over fifty percent of the population nationwide has undergone free routine health checkups, with this rate exceeding ninety percent in some regions. The Ministry of Health continues to compile the implementation results.
Early Detection and Referral
The primary purpose of routine health checkups is the early detection of diseases and risk factors. Based on the results, individuals with suspected illnesses are referred to healthcare facilities for advanced diagnosis and treatment.
Expert Staff and Physician Authority
The Ministry of Health instructed local authorities to organize checkups at authorized facilities. Clinics are required to have a full complement of doctors from various specialties, and the decision regarding tests is left to the physician.
Flexibility Suiting Local Conditions
The ministry does not impose a single, fixed health checkup package. Implementation is left to the discretion of local authorities based on their specific conditions and can be expanded with additional tests.
Data Sharing and Duplicate Tests
To limit duplicate prescriptions and unnecessary tests, previous medical examination results are shared through systems such as the social security database and VNeID.
