Fund support planned for periodic check-ups for health insurance holders
A new draft prepared by the Ministry of Health stipulates that periodic health examination fees of insured citizens will be covered by the Health Insurance Fund.
The Ministry of Health has prepared a draft proposing that payments be made by the Health Insurance Fund at varying rates according to age groups for the periodic health check-ups of health insurance holders.
New Draft and Limits by Age Groups
The Ministry of Health proposed that the Health Insurance Fund pay a maximum of 350,000 VND per year for routine health check-ups for individuals aged 18 and over. Within the scope of the proposal, limits of 250,000 VND for children aged 6-18 and 200,000 VND for children under 6 have been established.
Effective Date and Scope Details
While feedback is being requested on the draft circular, the proposal is expected to enter into force on July 1, 2027, if approved. This mechanism aims to include examination expenses within the scope of the fund in line with available resources.
Mechanism to Prevent Test Duplication
The draft also proposes a mechanism to restrict the repetition of tests recently undergone by individuals. Previous test results up to three months old can be reused through the Vietnam Social Security Data Reception Portal.
Existing Digital Health Data
According to the information shared by the Ministry of Health, more than 40 million people have undergone health check-ups as of the end of August. Additionally, more than 34 million people have electronic health records on the VNeID platform.
