Health Insurance Examination and Treatment Costs Being Controlled in Dong Nai

In the first eight months of 2026, a significant increase was recorded in Dong Nai regarding the number of medical examinations and treatments covered by health insurance, as well as the claimed compensation amount. Following the expenditure of more than 75 percent of the annual budget, authorities decided to increase inspections and controls for the appropriate use of the fund.

Increase in Health Insurance Expenditures

In the first eight months of 2026, a significant increase was recorded in Dong Nai compared to the same period last year in both the number of medical examinations and treatments covered by health insurance and the claimed compensation amount.

Medical facilities in the city received approximately 7.2 million health insurance-covered examinations and treatments, representing a 5.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Seventy-Five Percent of Fund Estimates Spent

The total payment amount claimed from the health insurance fund exceeded 3.6 trillion VND.

This figure constitutes more than 75.5 percent of the total annual expenditure estimate, highlighting the importance of budget control.

Deficiencies Identified During Inspections

As a result of inspections conducted at medical facilities in the first six months of the year, the Dong Nai Social Insurance Agency identified and refused payment for deficiencies amounting to 26 billion VND.

Recorded deficiencies included a lack of sufficient healthcare personnel, data standardization issues, and delays in electronic data transmission.

Measures to Be Taken for the Upcoming Period

In order to control costs in the final months of the year, Dong Nai Social Insurance will use the database to identify high-cost institutions.

Medical facilities were requested to strictly adhere to professional regulations and technical procedures and to develop appropriate treatment protocols.
