Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu Holds Health Technology Contacts in the US
As part of his official contacts in the US, Minister Memişoğlu visited leading biotechnology centers and companies to discuss strategic cooperation opportunities.
Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu held critical talks during his visit to the US, carried out under the vision of a 'Protective, Developing, and Producing Health'. Examining global giant institutions in the fields of biotechnology, health technologies, and public administration, Minister Memişoğlu also met with his US counterpart, Robert Francis Kennedy Jr.
Main Purpose and Scope of the US Visit
Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu visited the United States to conduct critical contacts in the fields of biotechnology, health technologies, and public administration within the framework of the 'Protective, Developing, and Producing Health' vision.
Minister Memişoğlu announced the details of his visit and the institutions and companies he contacted through posts on his official X account, providing information about the ongoing work.
Biotechnology Centers and Technology Companies
Within the scope of the US program, Hermes Biosciences, founded by Prof. Dr. Utkan Demirci, was visited, and research in early cancer diagnosis, regenerative medicine, and the molecular biology laboratory was examined on-site.
Examinations were conducted at the facilities of Intuitive Surgical, the developer of the da Vinci Surgical System, focusing on surgical robotic technologies and artificial intelligence-supported medical devices.
mRNA and Gene Therapy Studies
At Moderna facilities, R&D studies for mRNA technologies, biotechnology, and innovative drug and vaccine development processes were examined, and potential investment and production collaborations in Turkey were discussed.
At Precigen, a company operating in the field of gene and cell therapies, ongoing projects and advanced biological treatment opportunities were evaluated.
Critical Meeting with US Counterpart
On the diplomatic leg of the visit, Health Minister Memişoğlu held an inter-delegation meeting in Washington with US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Francis Kennedy Jr.
During the meeting, the health policies of both countries, global health visions, preventive medicine, and joint projects that could be carried out in the field of health technologies were laid on the table.
Global Business Summit and Production Vision
Attending the TABA–AmCham Global Business Summit of the Turkish-American Business Association, Minister Memişoğlu emphasized Turkey's high standards in the health field and its determination in production.
Stating that CAR-T cell therapy can be applied in 4 different centers in Turkey, Memişoğlu expressed that international collaborations will continue in line with the country's goal of becoming an innovative health technology production hub.
