Health Minister Memişoğlu Issues Warning on Smoking and Public Health
Minister Kemal Memişoğlu highlighted smoking rates in Turkey during Public Health Week events and emphasized the importance of combating addiction.
Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu stated at the Healthy Children Festival held in Sincan that one in every three people in Turkey uses tobacco. Expressing that smoking leads to serious diseases, Memişoğlu emphasized that preventive health services play a critical role in maintaining a healthy society.
Health Risks of Smoking
Minister Memişoğlu stated that smoking is one of the most significant factors triggering lung, laryngeal, and esophageal cancers, as well as heart attacks.
Combating Obesity and Sedentary Lifestyle
Stating that, alongside smoking, obesity and a sedentary lifestyle are among the biggest problems threatening public health, the Minister reminded that one should take good care of their body before falling ill.
Healthy Century of Turkey Vision
Stating that they aim to instill a culture of health in children within the scope of the Healthy Century of Turkey vision, Memişoğlu announced that services are provided by expert staff at 356 Healthy Life Centers across the country.
Inspections at the Festival Area
Visiting the festival area in Sincan, Minister Memişoğlu conducted inspections at various stations, including 112 Emergency Health, Family Medicine, Oral and Dental Health, and UMKE.
