Statement on Small Modular Reactors from Selçuk Bayraktar

Meeting with young people at the Nuclear Energy Technologies Design Competition final, Selçuk Bayraktar touched upon small modular reactor projects and stated his belief that they could produce these reactors within a few years.
Competition Final Takes Place
The third Nuclear Energy Technologies Design Competition, held under the management of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources within the scope of the TEKNOFEST Aerospace and Technology Festival, has been completed.
The final event was held at TENMAK's campus in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, where young people's projects were exhibited.
Small Modular Reactor Studies
Selçuk Bayraktar stated that they have been carrying out joint studies on small modular reactors with TMRS Energy for about 1.5 to 2 years.
Bayraktar indicated his belief that as a result of these studies, they will successfully build small modular reactors within a few years.
Emphasis on Energy Independence
Expressing that studies on nuclear energy are carried out under state control worldwide, Bayraktar drew attention to the strategic importance of this field.
He emphasized that small modular reactors will be one of the most important building blocks in achieving complete independence in energy.
TEKNOFEST 2026 Invitation
Coming together with participants and answering their questions within the scope of the event, Selçuk Bayraktar also touched upon upcoming festival plans.
Bayraktar invited all citizens to TEKNOFEST 2026, which will be held in Şanlıurfa between September 30 and October 4.
