It has been announced that the health condition of Nawwar, an activist of the Global Sumud Flotilla who has been detained in Tunisia for about 6 months and has been on a hunger strike since August 16, has reached dangerous dimensions. The flotilla administration called for urgent medical intervention and release.

In a statement made by the Global Sumud Flotilla, it was reported that Nawwar, who started a hunger strike on August 16, frequently faints, experiences severe respiratory distress, his blood sugar has dropped to dangerous levels, and he is vomiting blood.
Call for Medical Intervention
Stating that the health condition of the activist is critical, it was requested that the necessary specialized medical intervention be provided, that he undergo an independent health evaluation, and that his condition be closely monitored.
Critical Hearing Date
The Global Sumud Flotilla announced that the detention status of Nawwar, who has been detained for about 6 months, as well as Nabil Shunufi, Ghassan al-Hanshiri, and Ghassan al-Bughdiri, will be addressed at the hearing to be held on September 16.

The Tunisian judiciary had issued arrest warrants on March 16 for 7 members of the Global Sumud Flotilla's executive board in Tunisia on charges of money laundering. Those arrested included Nawwar, Shunufi, Hanshiri, Bughdiri, Mohamed Amin Bannur, Jawahir Shanna, and Sana al-Musahili. The judiciary later released Musahili, Shanna, and Bannur.
