In his speech in parliament, Prime Minister Balendra Shah stated that they received significant support from countries such as India, China, and the US during these difficult times.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken with his Nepalese counterpart after the disaster and assured him of providing all kinds of humanitarian aid.
Rescue Operations in the Region
Expert teams from India and China are actively supporting search and rescue operations and technical work.
On the Chinese side, the G216 highway in the border region was reopened to traffic, enabling heavy machinery and expert teams to reach the area.
Climate Compensation Debates
Following these developments, Nepalese Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal pointed out that, going beyond traditional humanitarian aid, climate compensation should be demanded from countries with high emissions.
It was emphasized that although Nepal's contribution to global emissions is very low, it is severely affected by the changes around the Himalayas.
