Health-Sen Reacts to Appointment and Staff Shortages in Eskişehir
Drawing attention to disruptions in healthcare services in Eskişehir, the union president emphasized staff shortages, stating that appointments for cancer screenings are given months in advance.
Health-Sen Eskişehir Branch President Hasan Hüseyin Köksal shared the problems experienced in health institutions in the city, announcing that appointments for examinations following cancer screening can be given six months later and that there is a staff shortage in the field.
Appointment Duration in Cancer Screenings
Health-Sen Eskişehir Branch President Hasan Hüseyin Köksal stated that while they invite citizens to cancer screenings, appointments for some necessary examinations can be given six months later. Köksal expressed that it is unacceptable to give individuals suspected of cancer long waiting periods for advanced examinations.
Staff Distribution and Field Workload
Sharing data from Eskişehir City Hospital and Yunus Emre State Hospital, Köksal voiced that they remain numerically insufficient and that the proportion of desk-bound personnel is quite high. Attention was drawn to the situation of personnel who cannot work shifts or do not actively work in clinical roles.
Emergency Services and Regional Density
Stating that Eskişehir serves patients coming from neighboring provinces such as Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, and Bilecik in addition to its population of one million, Köksal noted that similar problems are experienced in 112 Emergency Health Services as well.
New Hospital and Appointment Demand
Making a call to politicians and bureaucrats, Köksal asked them to experience the system firsthand by scheduling an appointment without using privileges. Advocating that emergency appointments must be made, Köksal voiced the demand for a new hospital with approximately 600 beds to be built in place of Eskişehir State Hospital.
