With an initiative launched under the leadership of the Turkey-Iraq Industrialists and Businessmen Association, Mersin has opened up to the Iraqi market in health tourism. Within the scope of the signed cooperation protocol, Iraqi patients are targeted to benefit from health services in Mersin.

New Step for Health Tourism

A new cooperation process in the field of health tourism has been initiated between Mersin and Iraq under the auspices of the Turkey-Iraq Industrialists and Businessmen Association.

Inspections by the Iraqi Delegation

A delegation consisting of executives from Anwar Sheikha Medical City visited health institutions in the city, notably the Mersin City Hospital, and conducted examinations.

TİSİAD's Assessments

TİSİAD Chairman of the Board Mehmet Salih Çelik stated that 1,031,257 Iraqi tourists visited Turkey in 2025, and they aim to carry this mobility into the healthcare sector.

Mersin's Advantages

It was emphasized that Mersin's strong healthcare infrastructure, accommodation capacity, transportation facilities, and commercial ties with Iraq offer significant advantages for health tourism.

Anwar Sheikha Medical City's Preference

Anwar Sheikha Medical City CEO Raof Saeed noted that Turkey is preferred due to its high standards in the healthcare field, and that Mersin is a city possessing these standards.

Signing of the Protocol

Following the speeches, the prepared cooperation protocol was officially signed with the participation of officials.
