Following an incident at Adana City Hospital, the HÜDA PAR Presidency of Human Rights and Legal Affairs applied to the Ministry of Health, demanding that patient privacy be meticulously protected at every stage of healthcare services.

It was reported that a patient who had made an appointment with a female physician at the Adana City Hospital Gynecology Outpatient Clinic encountered a male physician and assistants in the examination room. It was stated that after the patient expressed her sensitivity regarding privacy, the ensuing dispute was referred to the police.

The Importance of Privacy

In the statement, it was emphasized that patient privacy is not a favor, but an inseparable part of human dignity and the right to health. It was stated that respecting the explicit will of the patient, especially in sensitive examination situations, is a humanitarian obligation.

Call to the Ministry and Administration

It was requested that these rights, guaranteed by the Constitution and the Regulation on Patient Rights, find a response in practice. The health administration was demanded to take necessary measures and implement clear measures where patient preference is taken into consideration.
