HÜDA PAR Calls on the Ministry of Health Regarding Patient Privacy
Following the hospital incident in Adana, HÜDA PAR demanded the protection of patient privacy and the establishment of maternity hospitals staffed entirely by female personnel.
Following an incident at the Adana City Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology department, the HÜDA PAR Human Rights and Legal Affairs Directorate made an official call to the Ministry of Health regarding patient privacy and physician preference.
Patient Privacy and Legal Rights
It was emphasized that patient privacy is not a preference or a favor, but rather an inseparable part of the protection of human dignity and private life. It was stated that respecting the patient's physician preference and explicit will, due to the nature of the examination, is a humanitarian obligation.
Demand for Binding Measures from the Ministry
It was requested that the rights guaranteed by the Constitution and the Patient Rights Regulation find practical implementation. The health administration demanded the implementation of clear measures ensuring that patient preference is taken into account and privacy is guaranteed without leaving room for debate.
Alternative Hospital Model Proposal
HÜDA PAR Deputy Chairman Responsible for Women and Family, Aynur Sülün, stated that alternative hospital models should be implemented alongside the mixed hospital model. It was pointed out that women experience sensitivity regarding privacy during gynecological examinations and childbirth processes.
Hospitals Staffed Entirely by Female Personnel
It was requested that obstetrics and gynecology hospitals be established whose personnel consist entirely of women. It was argued that women who wish to do so should be able to benefit from healthcare services without any hesitation at the hospital of their choice.
Support Statement from Member of Parliament
HÜDA PAR Mersin Deputy Faruk Dinç drew attention to the importance of establishing these hospitals so that women can access healthcare services comfortably and without hesitation. It was stated that social trust would be established in this way and women would easily access healthcare services.
Emphasis on Psychological and Spiritual Security
It was stated that some women apply late for obstetrics services or delay their check-ups due to privacy concerns. It was noted that the proposed model would contribute to reducing these hesitations and make patients feel safer.
