Family physicians and family health workers find themselves having to cover the transportation and basic living expenses of mandatory professional trainings organized far from their workplaces out of their own pockets.

Financial Burden of Mandatory Trainings

Family physicians and family health workers cover the transportation costs out of their own pockets for professional training sessions that are organized kilometers away from their workplaces and attendance is mandatory. In some trainings, meals and basic needs are also left as the responsibility of the employees.

Severe Reaction from the Union

Reacting to the situation, Birlik ve Dayanışma Sendikası (Unity and Solidarity Union) Chairperson Dr. Ahmet Mehlepçi stated that the bill for professional training cannot be handed to the family physician, midwife, and nurse.

Call for Precaution to the Ministry

It was emphasized that while sending employees to distant centers for mandatory training, the Ministry is also obliged to take the necessary precautions against the transportation, nutrition, security, and occupational health risks arising from this assignment.
