Medical Waste Fine Imposed on Private Healthcare Institution in Elazığ
A large administrative fine has been imposed by the ministry on a private healthcare institution in Elazığ that was found to have disposed of medication and medical waste by burning them in violation of regulations.
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has imposed a total administrative fine of 501 million 568 thousand TL on three branches of a private healthcare institution determined to have destroyed medication and medical waste by burning them in violation of regulations in Elazığ.
They Destroyed Waste by Burning
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change determined that a private healthcare institution operating based in Elazığ was destroying medication and medical waste by burning them in violation of regulations.
Fined Previously as Well
Teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change in Elazığ had fined the institution 47 million 206 thousand 354 TL in May of this year for transporting hospital waste and burning it in the garden of a private property.
Camera and GSM Records Examined
Within the scope of the ongoing judicial investigation, it was revealed through camera and GSM records that the institution had destroyed medical waste taken from its different branches using a similar method in 2025 as well.
Multimillion-TL Administrative Fine
Acting upon notifications made by judicial authorities, the teams fined the company's three healthcare facilities a total of 501 million 568 thousand TL in accordance with the relevant article of the Environmental Law No. 2872.
