Following the summer holiday and the opening of schools, the Ministry of Health has issued important warnings serving as a guide for families regarding issues such as adjustment problems, anxieties, and screen use that children may experience.

Using Positive Expressions in the School Adjustment Process

Forming a positive idea in the minds of children who will newly start school life that school is an enjoyable environment for learning and socialization facilitates the adjustment process. Therefore, parents should use positive expressions when talking about school to their children.

Regulation and Restriction of Screen Use

During the adaptation process, screen use should be limited so as not to disrupt daily life, and rules should be established within the family. Instead of applying all rules at once during the process of reducing screen use, a gradual approach should be adopted.

Daily Routine and Pre-Sleep Screen Restriction

Screen use should not be included during meals and other times spent together. Ending screen use at least 30 to 60 minutes before sleep and removing screens from the bedroom are important in terms of daily routine.

Avoiding Comparing Children with Other Peers

Children should not be compared with other children in their classes or surroundings. It is of great importance to particularly avoid expressions that may damage their self-confidence and to provide opportunities for children to share their feelings.
