The Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health announced that it is comprehensively reviewing the supply processes and resources of cancer treatment drugs and radioactive substances to ensure uninterrupted treatment needs.

Drug Supply and Review Efforts

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Director of the Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health, made statements on October 1 at the fourth-quarter press conference on basic health policies. It was reported that the supply of various drugs, including cancer treatments and radioactive drugs, is being examined to ensure that treatment needs are met.

It was stated that current registration numbers continue to cover all chemical and radioactive drug groups. The Drug Administration continues to closely examine the supply status, capacity to meet demand, and potential supply issues in order to develop appropriate solutions.

Hospital Supply Processes and Experienced Difficulties

Officials from the Drug Administration pointed out that potential drug shortages in hospitals may stem from various reasons such as procurement, supply, and planning. Health institutions need to act proactively in terms of supply to ensure they have sufficient medicine to meet treatment needs.

Previously, it was reflected in the press that some health institutions experienced shortages of radiopharmaceutical substances for PET/CT scans. The lack of sufficient substances in some centers equipped with the device led cancer patients to travel to other cities and provinces for examinations.
