Multifaceted Cooperation Talks Held Between Syria and Japan

Strategic Meeting Held in Damascus
The Department of International Cooperation at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates met with Japan's Chargé d'Affaires in Damascus, Akihiro Tsuji, in the capital, Damascus. The meeting aimed to deepen relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, potential cooperation opportunities in energy, health, preservation of cultural heritage, clearing war remnants, local administration, and environmental sectors were evaluated in detail.
UN Projects and Sectoral Proposals
The sides reviewed projects carried out in partnership with United Nations agencies and discussed new proposals in the fields of electricity, environment, health, and demining.
Capacity Building and Training Programs
The meeting focused on expanding training programs for Syrian public personnel and increasing their capacities. It was also decided to benefit from Japan's experience and programs in third countries.
Joint Workshop to Be Held in Early 2027
A joint workshop is planned to be held in early 2027 to identify priority sectors and prepare future projects. It was reported that this workshop will take place under the coordination of the relevant ministries and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
Economic Relations and Business Council
Steps to increase communication between the private sectors of the two countries, establish the Syria-Japan Business Council, and facilitate investments by Japanese companies in the Syrian market were discussed at the meeting.
