New National Criteria for Municipal Health Services Being Prepared

Following the merger of administrative units and in order to adapt to the two-tier organizational model in local governments, the Ministry of Health is updating the National Municipal Health Services Criteria for the 2026-2035 period.

Workshop and New Criteria Process

The Ministry of Health organized a comprehensive workshop in Gia Lai province to develop the National Criteria Set for Municipal Health Stations for the 2026-2035 period.

Merger of Administrative Units

Following the reduction in the number of communes, wards, and townships nationwide from 10,035 to 3,321, the roles and responsibilities of municipal health centers have been expanded.

Current Deficiencies and Needs

It was determined that in the implementation of the current criteria, infrastructure, equipment, and human resources have failed to keep pace with the increasing population and service area.

Doctor and Staff Planning

According to the proposed new structure, it is planned that 4 to 5 doctors will serve at each municipal health station.

Publication Schedule

The national criteria for municipal-level health services for the 2026-2035 period, conducted by the Ministry of Health, are expected to be officially published in September 2026.
