New Regulation on Private Hospitals from the Ministry of Health

The Regulation on Amending the Regulation on Private Hospitals, prepared by the Ministry of Health, has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force. With this update, significant innovations have been implemented regarding the audit processes, X-ray and laboratory services, and physical conditions of private healthcare institutions.

Audit Exemption for Hospitals with TÜSKA Accreditation

Private hospitals accredited by the Turkey Health Care Quality and Accreditation Institute will be granted regular audit exemptions for specified periods.

While hospitals will be exempt from audits within the framework of periods determined by categories, extraordinary audits will continue in cases such as complaints or reports.

Flexibilities for X-Ray Equipment and Service Procurement

While the obligation to keep mobile X-ray devices or devices of sufficient power in private hospitals continues, it is now permitted to meet this service through on-site service procurement.

Thanks to this regulation, hospitals will also be able to fulfill their X-ray requirements through outsourced service procurement contracts.

New Rules in Medical Laboratory Services

While the obligation to maintain medical biochemistry and microbiology laboratories continues, institutions operating in specific fields will be able to meet this requirement through service procurement.

Additionally, if requested by hospitals that want to open a laboratory but lack specialist physician staff, new staffing will be allocated by the Ministry.

Physical Condition Exemption for Older Hospitals

Pursuant to the provisional article added to the regulation, private hospitals that received their licenses before the specified date have been exempted from certain physical conditions.

This exemption right will not apply to private hospitals that make changes after the specified date or fall within the scope of the relevant transitional provisions.
