Proposal to Expand Specialized Treatment Coverage Under Health Insurance
It is planned that diabetes and certain conditions treated with traditional medicine methods will be directly referred to specialized hospitals without the requirement of a referral slip and will be included under full insurance coverage.
The Ministry of Health is proposing to expand the scope where certain diseases can be directly admitted to specialized hospitals without needing a referral document and benefit from 100% health insurance.
New Regulations Within the Scope of the Circular
The Ministry of Health envisages reviewing practices regarding medical examinations and treatments within the scope of health insurance and making new additions.
Current List and Scope
The current list, which includes 62 critical, rare, and advanced-technique requiring diseases, features major headings such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and diabetes.
New Rights for Diabetes Patients
Insulin-dependent diabetes patients under the age of 18 who carry complications and organ damage will continue to benefit from their rights at a full rate.
Traditional Medicine Treatments
The Ministry proposes the addition of 22 disease types that can be treated in specialized centers using traditional methods, such as stroke sequelae and cancer side effects.
Expected Effective Date
The updated provisions of Circular No. 01/2025, which is planned to be amended, are expected to enter into force starting from April 1, 2027.
