Prostate Symptoms and the Importance of Early Detection
Urology Specialist Op. Dr. Veysel Yüzgeç stated that prostate enlargement begins to show symptoms gradually starting from the 40s.
It was stated that regardless of whether the disease is benign or malignant, it can present with similar symptoms such as frequent urination, getting up at night, and interrupted urination.
Stages of the Disease and the Situation in the Initial Phase
Op. Dr. Veysel Yüzgeç conveyed that prostate cancer patients mostly apply to healthcare institutions at 4 different stages and that it may not show symptoms in the initial stages.
It was emphasized that in the first stage, the cancerous tissue does not spread outside the prostate gland and can only be detected at this stage through regular check-ups.
Risks Emerging in Advanced Stages
It was stated that if the disease reaches the fourth stage, cancer cells move outside the organ and mostly metastasize to the bones.
It was noted that patients at this stage experience severe pain and their clinical picture worsens significantly.
Call for Regular Check-ups and PSA Testing
It was stated that in cases suspected due to high PSA values in blood tests, advanced examination and biopsy processes are applied.
It was reiterated that men should have prostate tests at least once a year after the age of 50, regardless of whether they have complaints.
