Resilience of Health Systems to Be Addressed at COP31 Hosted by Türkiye
At the United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in Antalya, the resilience of health systems against the climate crisis and international cooperation will be discussed.
At COP31, to be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya, comprehensive global steps will be taken to combat the negative impacts of climate change on public health and to strengthen health infrastructure.
COP31 and Health Day in Antalya
As part of COP31, hosted by Türkiye in Antalya between November 9-20, 2026, a special Health Day will be held on November 9. The health topic will be addressed as the tenth priority on the Action Agenda.
Health Risks of the Climate Crisis
Temperature increases, extreme weather events, air pollution, water and food security, and infectious diseases pose major threats to public health. Preparedness and adaptation capacities against these risks will be enhanced on Health Day.
Antalya Resilient Health Initiative
With the Antalya Resilient Health Systems Initiative to be launched within the framework of the COP31 vision, scientific evidence and international experiences will be transformed into concrete policies, and successful practices will be shared.
International Experience Sharing
Aziz Alper Biten, General Manager of European Union and Foreign Relations at the Ministry of Health, stated that Türkiye is bringing health to the COP agenda for the first time and that the AIR platform will enable experience transfer between countries.
Future-Oriented Health Policies
Significant developments achieved in the health field over the past two decades will contribute to the development of environment- and climate-sensitive systems, setting an example for the world.
