Six major mistakes that trigger migraine attacks in the summer months
Critical warnings from experts against increased headaches in hot weather; incorrect habits that trigger migraines during the summer period were listed.
Specialist Dr. Özden Yener Çakmak from Memorial Antalya Hospital Neurology Department listed six fundamental mistakes that trigger migraines in the summer months and provided information about the nerve block treatment applied in chronic cases.
Fluid consumption and the sun
Failure to adequately replace the fluid loss that increases with sweating can facilitate headaches. Since intense sunlight can also trigger migraines, sunglasses and hats should be used.
Temperature change and sleep
An abrupt transition from a cool, air-conditioned environment to heat can trigger headaches. In addition, maintaining a sleep routine and not skipping meals are of great importance.
Nutrition and medication use
Attention should be paid to caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, and processed foods. Excessive medication use, on the other hand, can lead to chronic headaches.
Nerve block treatment
Nerve blocks can be applied to chronic migraine patients who do not benefit from standard treatments. By administering injections to the nerves in the nape and head region, pain signals are blocked.
