The National Lung Hospital, led by Dr. Dinh Van Luong, transferred advanced thoracic surgery techniques to the Nghe An Lung Hospital and successfully performed an endoscopic operation on a 57-year-old patient.

Technical Transfer Process

The National Lung Hospital officially announced that its doctors successfully transferred thoracic surgery techniques to the Nghe An Lung Hospital. The delegation was led by Dr. Dinh Van Luong, Hospital Director and President of the Vietnam Lung Association.

The National Lung Hospital supported the local healthcare infrastructure by implementing an advanced applied technical transfer method directly in the operating room.

Expert Opinion and Infrastructure

Dr. Dinh Van Luong stated that thoracic surgery requires the coordination of many fields, such as surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests, anesthesia, and postoperative care.

In preparation for this significant development, the Nghe An Lung Hospital established the Department of Thoracic Surgery and the Department of Surgery-Anesthesia and Resuscitation on August 5, 2026.

Successful Endoscopic Surgery

Leading experts at the central level directly collaborated with the local team to carry out a challenging two-hour endoscopic surgery.

57-year-old Mr. N.D.Ch., who was diagnosed with a left pneumothorax due to a ruptured air cyst, was placed under observation following an operation to remove and suture the cyst.

Objectives and Policies

Dr. Dinh Van Luong emphasized that this effort provides an important opportunity to improve the professional skills of grassroots medical personnel.

This initiative materializes the Ministry of Health's goal of developing a network of satellite hospitals while also implementing the relevant decisions of the Central Lung Hospital.
