TBMM's health expenditures for the first eight months of 2026 announced
The health expenses of deputies and their relatives in the first eight months of the year reached millions of liras, drawing attention.
According to official data shared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the total health expenditures of members of parliament and their relatives at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey exceeded 167 million liras in the January-August period of 2026.
January-August Expenditure Amount
According to the data of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the health expenditures of 592 deputies serving in the TBMM and their dependents for the first eight months of 2026 were recorded as a total of 167 million 814 thousand liras.
Daily and Hourly Cost Calculations
According to official data, when this expenditure amount is divided by days, the budget allocated for the health of the deputies corresponds to a daily average of 691 thousand liras. The hourly cost constitutes an amount of 28 thousand 800 liras.
Distribution of Treatment and Drug Expenses
While treatment and medical supply expenses constituted 165 million 252 thousand liras of the total bill in the January and August period, the remaining 2 million 562 thousand liras were allocated to drug expenditures.
Course of Monthly Treatment Costs
Treatment costs followed a fluctuating course on a monthly basis. The highest treatment expenditure was made in June with 30 million 16 thousand liras, while the lowest expenditure was recorded in January with 13 million 939 thousand liras.
Summer Increase in Drug Expenses
As for drug expenses, a noticeable increase was experienced in the summer months. The drug bill, which followed a lower course in the first months of the year, reached 698 thousand liras in July and doubled in August to reach 1 million 430 thousand liras.
