Vietnam Launches National Child Protection Program for 2026-2030 Period
The National Child Protection Program for 2026-2030, launched by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, aims to reduce violence and abuse cases by 5 percent annually.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health held the opening ceremony for the National Program on Child Protection and the Illegal Prevention and Reduction of Child Labor for the 2026-2030 period.

The National Program on Child Protection and the Illegal Prevention and Reduction of Child Labor for the 2026-2030 period, prepared under the leadership of the Ministry of Health, was officially launched on September 11.
Current Situation and Challenges Faced
Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan stated that in child protection efforts, the rate of unlawful child labor has dropped from 5.4 percent to 1.31 percent, and support has been provided to all abused children.
It was pointed out that economic stagnation, inflation, and new threats in the digital world have led to an increase in child violence cases.
Strong System Emphasis from UNICEF
UNICEF Deputy Representative in Vietnam Michaela Bauer stated that children face serious risks such as violence, abuse, and being employed in hazardous labor.
Bauer emphasized that establishing a strong and integrated child protection system is of vital importance to combat these problems.
New Period Targets and Database
Within the framework of the new program, it is aimed to reduce the rate of child violence and sexual abuse by at least 5 percent every year.
Additionally, it is planned to reduce the rate of child labor among children aged 5 to 17 below 1.1 percent and to establish a joint database for the rapid identification of children at risk.
