Apple Introduces Health App with iOS 27 and New Watch Models
Apple announced the revamped Health app with iOS 27, alongside the Apple Intelligence-powered Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 models.
Apple is comprehensively renewing the Health app as part of the iOS 27 update. Completely redesigned sensor hardware in the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 models is accompanied by new artificial intelligence-supported sections.
Renovated Hardware and Sensors
The new Watch models introduce users to an advanced Health Sensing System featuring three key improvements. This system includes an expanded electrode surface area that ensures better skin contact during ECG measurements.
Other key hardware components of the system include ring-arranged photodiodes that capture light more efficiently for optical sensing, and green LEDs that continuously record data.
Continuous Heart Rate Tracking
The new smartwatch models perform regular heart rate measurements every five seconds throughout the day. The devices are also capable of recording heart rate variability at much more frequent intervals.
AI-Powered Insights Tab
Along with the Apple Intelligence infrastructure integrated into the Health app, several new tabs are added to the system. The Insights tab presents sleep data or new peak points in VO2 max values with artificial intelligence summaries.
Personalized Recommendations and Readiness Score
The For You section provides users with fully customized recommendations on critical topics such as readiness status, fitness, and heart health. The new Watch models calculate a special score by taking recent activities and vital signs into account.
Comprehensive Evaluation with the Longevity Tab
With the iOS 27 update, the brand-new Longevity tab is included in the Health app. This section evaluates areas such as heart health, sleep, mental health, and mobility health collectively.
Release Date and Language Support
According to the statement made by Apple, the revamped Health app is planned to be released in late 2026. The app will initially be active only in English.
