A comprehensive workshop was held in Hung Yen to evaluate the results of the hepatitis B and C screening and treatment model in primary healthcare services, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Purpose and Scope of the Project
The Ministry of Health organized a workshop in collaboration with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to summarize the project implementing a model aimed at improving the screening, diagnosis, care, and treatment of hepatitis B and C at the primary healthcare level.
Hung Yen Implementation Results
The model to improve grassroots-level screening, diagnosis, care, and treatment of hepatitis B and C has been successfully implemented in Hung Yen since 2022 to enhance the capacity of doctors and medical personnel.
After four years of implementation, 16 health facilities in the province have participated in the model, with more than 120,000 people screened and over 4,200 testing positive for hepatitis B and C viruses.
Treatment Rates and Future Goals
Within the scope of the implementation, direct treatment has been provided to more than 75 percent of Hepatitis C patients and over 78 percent of Hepatitis B patients.
At the workshop, delegates discussed experiences and recommended expanding the model to contribute to the goal of eliminating hepatitis B and C in Vietnam by 2030.
