Breast cancer awareness events held in Mardin
An informational program and screenings were held in Mardin in cooperation with the Provincial Health Directorate and MEMEDER to draw attention to the importance of early diagnosis.
Various events were organized at the Atatürk Cultural Center and Cumhuriyet Square by the Mardin Provincial Health Directorate and the Breast Health Association (MEMEDER) to draw attention to the importance of early diagnosis in breast cancer and to raise awareness.
Program Held at Atatürk Cultural Center
In the program held with the participation of healthcare workers in Mardin, the vital importance of early diagnosis in breast cancer was discussed.
The value of regular screenings for women's health and efforts to increase awareness in society were evaluated.
Officials Attending the Event
Mardin Provincial Health Director Specialist Dr. Saffet Yavuz and Public Health Head Specialist Dr. Cihat Adın attended the meaningful program.
Additionally, Mardin Artuklu University Faculty of Medicine Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. İzzettin Toktaş and MEMEDER Chairperson of the Board Leman Otru took part in the program.
Importance of Early Diagnosis and Screenings
Provincial Health Director Specialist Dr. Saffet Yavuz emphasized the critical role of early diagnosis and screening in the fight against cancer.
Yavuz stated that it is essential for women to fully benefit from cancer screenings appropriate for their age and risk groups.
Results of 2026 Screenings
Within the scope of health activities carried out across Mardin, a total of 13,725 people were screened for breast cancer in the first 8 months of 2026.
It was reported that as a result of the screenings, 366 people were referred to higher tiers for advanced evaluation, and 25 people were diagnosed with breast cancer.
Mobile Screening and Information Activities
Immediately after the meeting, a mobile cancer screening vehicle was put into service for citizens at Cumhuriyet Square.
Thanks to the mobile vehicle, citizens were both provided with screening services and comprehensive awareness activities regarding breast cancer were conducted.
