Security Measures Announced for the 2026-2027 Academic Year

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced comprehensive security measures to be implemented in and around schools to ensure students receive their education in peace and safety during the 2026-2027 academic year.
School Safety and Measures Taken
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi shared the security measures that will be implemented in and around schools to ensure that students can continue their education in peace and safety during the 2026-2027 academic year.
It was reported that security measures have been raised to the highest level to ensure that children go to their schools safely and return to their homes in peace.
Police and Gendarmerie in the Field
It was stated that police and gendarmerie teams are in the field for students and that a safer educational environment is being established through instant inspections.
It was noted that planning for 31,000 school garden attendants has been completed across all 81 provinces nationwide and that hand detectors have been procured for priority schools.
Assignments Based on Risk Status
It was emphasized that schools are evaluated according to their risk status, and school law enforcement officers, safe education coordination officers, and patrol teams are assigned according to needs.
It was stated that the Inspection Application for School Environments and Service Vehicles for the Protection of Children and Youth will be carried out throughout the academic year.
Patrol and Inspection Activities Will Be Increased
Team and patrol activities will be increased during school entry and exit hours, and security measures will be intensified in priority schools.
Efforts to expand security cameras and increase inspections targeting private security guards will continue.
Narcotic and Environmental Inspections
Security measure meetings will be held with the participation of relevant institutions within the scope of the fight against drugs and stimulants.
Inspections targeting businesses such as internet cafes, game halls, and kiosks that may pose risks to student safety will be increased.
Service Vehicles and Traffic Safety
Within the scope of traffic safety, inspections targeting pedestrian and student safety around schools in all 81 provinces will be increased.
It was reported that inspections of school service vehicles will be intensified throughout the 2026-2027 academic year for the safe transportation of students.
